On the account page, or in the game itself. It is the same account either way.

Start and sign in
Open Zizeeria Launcher. Its first run fetches the world’s content, then starts the game, and you sign in on the game’s login screen.

Your first hour: you arrive in Reedhaven, where Halla Tideward keeps the harbour counter and has a task for you.

What the installer does

It installs Zizeeria Launcher, the game’s program and the engine, and it does not carry the game’s content. The launcher fetches that on its first run, so the first run needs a connection: what you download here does not contain the world yet. On every start after that, the launcher compares the content on your disk with the release it came from, fetches any file that differs, checks each one against the release and starts the game.

It installs into Program Files and asks for administrator rights while it does, or, if you would rather it did not, under your own profile, where it asks for nothing. Between releases the launcher writes only the game’s content, which the installer lets your account change, so a repair or a content fix needs no prompt. A new release is different — see Already installed below.

Zizeeria 0.1.25, 122 MB. Its SHA-256 is 79bb0874f1be312cc5b7de750b9a5545c907a7b0d696e36e0a78583ae3cd718b — check what you downloaded against it, because a truncated download of an installer is a failure nobody can explain. That digest is read off this file rather than written down beside it, so it cannot describe a different build than the one behind the button; it is also what a bug report should quote, because a release name is shared by every build of it and this is not.

Windows will warn you, and it is right to. SmartScreen shows “Windows protected your PC — unknown publisher” and hides the button that runs it behind More info. That is not a judgement about this file: it is what Windows says about every installer that has not been signed with a code-signing certificate, and this one has not been. Nothing about the warning tells you whether the bytes are ours — the digest above does. In PowerShell:

If it matches, the file is the one built here. If it does not, delete it and download it again — and tell us, because a mismatch that is not a truncated download is something we would need to know about immediately.

Already installed

You do not need this page to update: open Zizeeria Launcher from the Start menu, or from your desktop if you asked the installer for a shortcut there. When a new release is out, the launcher downloads that release’s installer, checks it against the release and runs it. The installer’s last page has a Launch Zizeeria Launcher box, ticked unless you untick it; leave it ticked, or open the launcher again afterwards, and the launcher fetches the new release’s content.

Today that is close to a whole download each time: the installer, then nearly all of the content by size, because the few large files that hold most of the world change from one release to the next. The installer shows its own pages, and an install in Program Files asks for administrator rights again on each release. A launcher that replaces only the parts of the game that changed, without the installer’s pages, is planned and is not built yet.

System requirements

These are the tiers the game is being built for. The minimum tier is a target: nobody has measured the game on minimum hardware yet, and this page will say so when somebody has.

What it starts on today

What the release you can download has been seen starting on; its installer is 122 MB. That is not a promise that it plays well there: no frame rate is given yet, and the only one measured so far is from a single old graphics card.

Operating system: Windows, 64-bit only. Every install so far ran on Windows 11; Windows 10 and older are untested.
Graphics: Starts on a DirectX 11 graphics card, feature level 11_0 or newer. The game tries DirectX 12 first and falls back to DirectX 11. Starting is all this row claims: it says nothing about frame rate.
Storage: About 0.6 GB once installed: the installer, then about 200 MB of content on the launcher's first run.

A note on the minimum specification

A game that does not actually run on the hardware it claims to support does not have a wider audience. It has a smaller one, plus a refund queue. So the minimum tier is meant to be measured on real minimum hardware rather than estimated from a profiler on a development machine — and that measurement has not been made yet. Until it has, read the minimum tier as the target the game is built toward, not as a tested promise.

The tiers exclude mechanical drives, and that is a target too. Streaming a world of the finished game’s size off a spinning disk produces stutter that no setting fixes; nobody has measured today’s much smaller game on one.

Questions before you download

What stage is the game at?: Zizeeria is in development. Patch 0.1.25 is playable on Windows in one region, Reedhaven, and nothing is for sale. It is an early test: Reedhaven is the world for now, and each patch changes things. The patch notes say what each one changed.
Which platforms?: Windows only. The installer is a Windows program, and there is no Mac, Linux or console version.
Is it in English?: Yes. The game, this site and the patch notes are all in English.
Which realm do I play on?: One: EU - Reedhaven, which the game’s login screen offers.
What does it cost?: Nothing is for sale today, and there is no store in the game.
Do I need an account?: Yes, one, and it is what you sign in with on the game’s login screen. Create it on the account page or in the game.
How do I report a bug?: Press F8 in the game, or choose Report a Bug in the game menu. Support has the other ways to reach us.
Are there known problems?: Yes, and each patch lists them. The notes for Patch 0.1.25 end with a Known Issues section.
What can I change in the options?: Patch 0.1.24’s options screen is built with graphics presets, resolution scale, view distance and shadow quality; a master volume; the size of the interface; a colour-blindness filter with its strength; cooldown numbers on or off; and rebinding of keys. If yours differs, tell us — that list was read from the game’s code.
Will it run on my PC?: The release you can download starts on 64-bit Windows with a DirectX 11 graphics card and takes about 0.6 GB of disk — see What it starts on today above. How well it plays on a given card has not been measured beyond one old one. Nobody has measured the game on the minimum hardware the tiers name, so those are targets and not a promise.
